When Twitter user sandieguy sent the following message to Demi Moore's (mrskutcher) twitter page: I'm just wondering if anyone cares that I'm gonna kill myself now. Demi then responded to the message above by saying that she hopes sandieguy is joking. Demi posted sandieguy's message for all her Twitter followers, over 382k, to see.
Within an hour sandieguy posted another message saying "gbye... gonna kill myself now." Demi's Twitter followers then placed phone call after phone call to the San Jose police. The cops found the woman and said that she had not hurt herself, but they took her in to "get evaluated."
After Demi Moore found out that sandieguy was fine, she thanked her followers with the following message:
“Thanks everyone for reaching out to the San Jose PD i am told they are aware and no need to call anymore. I do not know this woman. I am inspired by the enormous response of humanity here and thank you… It is my understanding that the situation was not a joke and that through the collective efforts here action was taken to provide help!”
Maybe I have a heart of ice, but I just don't like suicidal attention whores. People who are serious about suicide don't sell 'I'm Gonna Kill Myself!' T-shirts on eBay and Tweet Demi Moore about their plans. Did this chick even scrape her skin with a knife? I need more deets.
And Demi is really a sweetheart, so considerate. I think I would be a little concerned too, though. If you can't type out three more letters to say "gbye" when you're signing off from earth, I'd say you sound pretty serious and have clearly lost the will to live.
