Infant Laid to Rest 2 Years After His Murder

LASVEGASNOW.COM -- An infant was laid to rest Friday nearly two years after the baby boy was found in a restroom trash can at a Las Vegas Strip resort.

Even though the infant was never identified, members of the community still wanted to make sure the baby was given a proper burial.

No one who attended the somber service at Bunker's Woodlawn Memorial Park ever knew the infant. He has only been known as Baby Boy Excalibur. But they say the tragic circumstances surrounding his short life is something they'll never forget.

The small gravesite gathering consisted only of a few Woodlawn employees. They came to pay their respects to the infant whose real name remains a mystery to homicide detectives still working this case.
"Certainly with a child, no one wants to see this. But it's even more difficult and painful when it involves an infant," said James Millikin with Bunker's Woodlawn.
It was Mother's Day in May of 2008 when an Excalibur housekeeper discovered the infant's lifeless body wrapped in a hotel gift bag and pillowcase. He was stuffed inside a trash can near a bathroom inside the hotel.
Nearly two years after the child's death, authorities decided it was time that the infant received a proper burial.

Bunker's arranged for a quiet service while a Las Vegas florist Dibella's donated a beautiful flower arrangement to mark the grave until a permanent plaque can be made.
"The thought of the baby being born and forgotten and no one knowing who he is, I think that's the worst part for me. It's not knowing who this child was," said Betty Box.
And so it is in the Children's Memorial Garden at Bunker's that the baby infant was laid to rest near a memorial stone that reads, You are not Forgotten.

When that permanent grave marker is made, it will simply read, Baby Boy Excalibur, at least until investigators can determine what his real name was.

Boys will be toys for older women striking out for love

Scotsman.com News

A politician's wife caused a scandal when she bedded a young lover 40 years her junior. But, as Sandra Dick discovers, many older women are saying here's to you, Mrs Robinson
THEY won't see 40 again, the menopause is on the horizon – for some, it has been and gone – and they're closer to their pension than they might prefer to think. Yet a new breed of sex-hungry women – dubbed "cougars" – are increasingly on the prowl.

News that Irish First Minister's wife, MP Iris Robinson, recently did her own "Mrs Robinson" and hooked herself a lover an astonishing 40 years her junior is startling enough.

Kirk McCambley was just 19 – an age when most lads are more interested in the latest Call of Duty video game, binge drinking and fantasising about Megan Fox – when he bedded the flame-haired Belfast politician 18 months ago.

Indeed, church-going Mrs Robinson, now 60, was old enough to be her secret boyfriend's grandmother. But it didn't stop the pair – who have known each other since he was just nine – having a fling that has now rocked Northern Irish politics.

What is just as astonishing, however, is that Mrs Robinson, whose namesake in the sixties' movie The Graduate lured a youthful Dustin Hoffman's character into bed, is hardly alone.

For a new generation of 40-plus women, from desperate housewives bored by years of marriage to high- earning city businesswomen, celebrities to, indeed, politicians, are giving their love lives a youth injection courtesy of more than willing toy boys.

Last week it emerged that filmmaker and artist Sam Taylor-Wood, 42, is pregnant by teenage actor Aaron Johnson. The pair hooked up after she cast him as the lead in her John Lennon movie, Nowhere Boy. She now plans to marry Johnson, who is just seven years older than Taylor-Wood's daughter, Angelica, aged 12.

Yet she's only following in the footsteps of the likes of Hollywood actress Demi Moore, 46, and her husband Ashton Kutcher, who's still only 31. Even Jade Goody's mum Jackiey Budden, 51, has recently swapped 37-year-old lover Jason Cooper for the even younger 30-year-old father-of-three Aaron Woolhouse.

Scots psychologist Cynthia McVey believes women are simply enjoying the benefits of a more broad-minded society – and grabbing a bit of what men have enjoyed down the years.

"This trend reflects changes in society generally," she explains. "It used to be that men were the breadwinners, and women were attracted to status and the ability to protect and provide for their family.

"Now women no longer need those kinds of services. They can provide for themselves and for their children.

"With that sorted, they can then go for looks and for youth. They can behave the same as men and choose someone much younger if they want to."

Society's response to women and their toy boys is changing too, she says. "Society in general might still regard it as a bit odd, but younger people are very accepting. They say that if it's OK for a man to have a young glamorous woman on their arm, why not for a woman to have a young, attractive man?

"As we see celebrities doing this it becomes more generally accepted within the general population."

The trend is also partly fuelled by women now having more control over their looks thanks to cosmetic surgery, Botox and gym-honed bodies.

But while all that may boost a middle-aged woman's confidence, according to online dating website boss Julie Macmillan, 49, looks aren't always the big issue for their younger partners.

"Women are very hung up about their looks. They see every line, every detail. They're in their mid-40s, they probably haven't had sex with their husband for years and self-esteem is at rock bottom.

"They can't understand how a younger man might find them attractive, but they do. For many men, it's not about a wrinkle or too many curves or age. They see overall attractiveness and sexiness."

Julie launched Toyboy Warehouse (www.toyboywarehouse.com) in 2006 after a searching online dating sites and finding herself paired with "boring" middle-aged men.

"It's not just about six packs and looks," she insists. "And there are plenty of young men out there who are intelligent and mature and able to hold a conversation. They're not all sitting about playing on an XBox all day. And a lot of them find girls their own age irritating and annoying.

"I've dated men in their 20s who are so intelligent and mature and perfectly able to talk about all sorts of things. Likewise, I've had older boyfriends who have been unbelievably boring."

Julia, a painter and sculptor, has more than 22,000 members on her website – around 1,000 of them Scots. And while the website is aimed at finding a toyboy for women, there are more men registered seeking love with an older woman. Demand is growing so quickly that she is now planning a series of events in Edinburgh and Glasgow to bring older women and younger men together.

"A generation ago, a woman had kids, she'd kind of let herself go and she'd stay at home, twiddling her thumbs and getting older. But today women have more.

"This is like the last stage of feminism. The first was the pill, then comes the political changes and the social changes in the workplace. Now it is about relationships.

"And there are a lot of women coming out of long-term relationships, with grown-up children who married young and feel they missed out on their youth. They're free again and they want to make up for lost time."

Of course, it's worth remembering too that the male of the species hits his sexual prime in his late teens – a woman in her late forties. Which, according to one IVF specialist, can create it's own toy boy dilemmas.

The Barcelona-based Institute Marques announced last week that at least 12 per cent of the British couples it helps involve a woman who is at least six years older than her partner.

Dr Raul Olivares, the IVF centre's international director, said: "Starting a new relationship with a much younger man makes these women feel rejuvenated, and at a time of such physical and emotional plenitude, it can be difficult to accept that one's reproductive train may already have left. Often they cannot understand that, at 45, you can have a fantastic body but it can be too late to have a pregnancy."

Despite the toy boy trend, psychologist Cynthia, however, believes most women will seek out partners of roughly the same age. "Is it going to be much of a relationship if your toy boy doesn't have a lot of lifestyle experience – he might look lovely but there's not much fun if you can't talk to each other because he's too busy playing his XBox.

"Then again," she laughs, "it might not be a bad thing. He'll need something to do while we're in the bathroom trying to cover the wrinkles and cracks on our face!"

'Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew' premiere: Sure, why not make a bunch of sex addicts live together?

sex-rehab_lHere’s the problem with these rehab-on-TV shows: They are showing rehab. On TV. Um, most sobriety programs have “anonymous” in their names for a reason. Because anonymity is a key aspect of getting over addictions, which means television might make the process a bit tougher. VH1’s Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew becomes the latest semi-serious attempt to depict the process of overcoming addiction. And with its Sunday premiere, the series, like Celebrity Rehab before it, achieved the same odd combination of attacking important issues and allowing a salacious look at people who seem far worse off than most of us. It’s truly great for anyone in any public forum to treat masturbation, condom use, STDs, and the tricky connection between sex and emotion as serious subjects worthy of genuine, nonjudgmental discussion. But there’s no denying the more voyeuristic elements of this series:

While not a “celebrity” reality show per se, every attempt was clearly made to satiate viewers with characters who have as sexy a public connection as possible — a pro surfer, a Playmate, a rock drummer who worked with Skid Row, a porn star, the gorgeous wife of a guy who won Rock Star: Supernova, and even the requisite reality crossover star, Celebrity Rehab grad/swimsuit model Amber Smith. And yes, all these pretty darn beautiful people are expected to live together while fighting their urge to sleep with other beautiful people, and these people who for the most part perform for a living are supposed to ignore the cameras while doing this. It’s the kind of show that can seamlessly move from painful admissions of repeated childhood sexual abuse to funny, camera-ready demonstrations of sexual frustration (when hyperactive surfer James Lovett hits the treadmill). Uncomfortable? Yes. Reprehensible? Maybe. Watchable? Absolutely.

Kanye West- DO you Have To bE a DumbA$$ to Get Publicity?

By Mindy Lansdale

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've seen or heard about Kanye West jumping on the stage during the 2009 MTV video awards in the middle of Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.

Taylor is no idol of mine, and I think the MTV video awards are a waste of time, but come on - let the girl have her moment in the spotlight. As a society, has all respect and decorum been forgotten about? Seems that way, after looking at the lyrics that Kanye uses in his songs. Having already done that myself, and felt dirty for hours afterwards by doing so, I really don't think it's that out of character for him.

This leads me on to another point - why does pop music have to be so freakin' lifeless? I mean, everything that's out there is lacking in substance. Frankly, it's all crap. I just can't stand to listen to it anymore. It probably says something about our culture that we are mostly aware of how shallow it all is, but we just accept it anyway. All most people want is pithy, nonsensical platitudes in our music and quick pop psychology fixes for the rest of their lives.

But I digress, so let's get back to Kanye the moronic egomaniac. Should we expect better? Probably not~ As long as idiocy is rewarded with airplay and publicity, we'll continue to get more of the same. Fame is sought after at all costs even if it's at the expense of someone, anyone (or everyone) else. Why should we even care what these people say, sing or think about? Do they have any qualifications that would make me want to value their opinion?

Of course, the same is true here - who cares what I say or do? Who I am to be giving my opinion?? I love to rant and rave about anything that crosses the circuits in my little brain - even if I'm not particularly qualified to comment on the issue.

I guess I should try writing pop music...

Madonna's new look to get younger men

madonna_pizza_aa-784x1024
thestarnews.info
Yesterday, CB covered Madonna’s appearance on The Late Show on Wednesday night. Madonna showed off her latest incarnation – she’s still the self-absorbed Madge that we know and love (sort of) but with some added improvements (the chicken cutlet cheeks) and a new look. Even though I think Madonna’s plastic surgery looks totally painful – and I think during her appearance on Letterman, she was even wincing in pain as she tried to smile – I rather like Madge’s new look. I think she’s aiming for sultry cougar, bypassing matronly for a kind of kitschy, updated, fabulous Eva Peron look.

Anyhoodle, the reason Madge is making all of these media appearances is to promote her greatest hits album. So it makes sense that she would stop in Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to talk about all of the latest pop culture junk, and Madge’s own views on dating:
Always one to speak her mind, Madonna had some words of wisdom for Kanye West when she called in to Ryan Seacrest’s LA radio show on Thursday.
When the subject turned to the rapper’s abrupt outburst during Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the VMAs, the 51-year-old superstar said she thought Kanye’s actions were “impulsive” and told Seacrest she would like to “give him a good talking to” and says “he needs to put a lid on it.”
The material girl, who’s dating 22-year-old model Jesus Luz, had no problem telling 34-year-old Seacrest that he was much too old for her.
“Younger people are more adventurous. Have you met many guys my age?” she said. “They’re usually grumpy and fat and balding.”
So how young is too young?
“As long as they’re old enough to dress themselves, they’re good enough,” she told Seacrest.
Madonna also talked about her body, revealing that when she looks in the mirror, she’s not always happy with what she sees.
“My body is part of my job. I look in the mirror and say ‘more work…less cake, more work.’”
Hmmm, if Madonna thinks she looks bad, what does that say for the rest of us?
[From Radar]
Yikes. “As long as they’re old enough to dress themselves, they’re good enough”? Seriously? No, she must have been joking, it just didn’t come across that way on the cold, hard transcript. But for all of those who enjoy claiming misogyny with regards to Madge and her boy-toys, imagine if a 50-year-old man had said that, even in jest. There would be a major controversy. As far as her comments about her body – well, evidently, Madge looks in the mirror and thinks “more gristle needed”. I wish she would put a few pounds on, though. It would soften her… but Madge has no interest is being “soft” in any way.

Kanye's VMA With Taylor Swift And Katy Perry's Comment

By Cyndi Whittel
http://images.mirror.co.uk/upl/m4/sep2009/7/0/kanye-west-and-taylor-swift-pic-getty-image-1-364547169.jpg
Kanye West's outburst at the MTV VMA awards wasn't his first meltdown. Back in 07 he claimed that he had the video that should have won because he spent so much time on it. The video "Touch The Sky" didn't win. Even again, last year in 2008 you will find Kanye on you tube. A video of his ranting backstage: "Give A Black Man A Chance", he continues with "Where's Britney?", "Get Britney!". Comments to this are, "Want to Win An Award Kanye? Quit using pitch correction in your music".

On an even more interesting note, he's now been heard stating that he apparently feels like Greg Focker of the movie, "Meet The Parents". Apparently this is due to so many people who wanted him to leave after the VMA's. It was obvious why he felt like a focker. Take for instance all of the blog comments he got and all of the angry people in the audience after he interrupted T. Swift receiving her very first VMA in such a shockingly distasteful way. Taylor had even left you tube videos regarding how excited she was about even being nominated.

Kelly Clarkson, Pink, and others didn't hold back on anything either. Kelly Clarkson left a blog which said the following: ""I've seen you do some pretty s----- things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, ass--- ways. .... It's absolutely fascinating how much I don't like you. I like everyone"

She then continues: "What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we're all just curious as to what would make a grown adult go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like shit."

The former American Idol sweetheart was also nominated against Swift for best female video, but insists that she was still happy for her. "You weren't even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a Moon Man that much of a life goal? You can have mine if it will shut you up." Clarkson said.

"I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and was excited for her. So why can't you be?? I'm not even mad at you for being an ass----. ... I just pity you because you''re a sad human being," she writes. Clarkson praised Swift: "You outsell him, [West]. That's why he's bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl!" She also appreciated Beyonce and called her a "class act," for showing grace in the situation.

Later, West went on the Jay Leno Show and apologized. After all the hysteria you almost end up feeling a little sorry for Kanye in the end. A one time fashion leader, wearing all the new styles, even had his own Nike shoes, the "Air Yeezy". He made a few other fashion statements with his luxury, yet sporty/fashionable timepieces including the Bape Casio G-Shock watch. According to other sources he was also a fan of Breitling Bentley and other Breitling watches which says a lot about his sense of style.

Like all other artists who have to deal with the issues just as with all celebrities, Kanye will revive in the end and bounce back like all of the others. It will just take some time since he did basically trample on a new and very young artist. Like Katy Perry said, "F--k You, Kanye. It's like you stepped on a kitten.". The statement proves how long of a wait he truly has. Staying out of the spotlight for at least a couple of years would help. Then come back with honey instead of something bitter. Catches more bees.

TSK TSK Tila Tequila Jailed San Diego Charger Shawne Merriman for Battery and False Imprisonmment

community.livejournal.com

San Diego Chargers star outside linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested Sunday and accused of choking and restraining his girlfriend, reality TV star Tila Tequila, as she tried to leave his suburban home.

Sheriff’s deputies got the call at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday from a woman who claimed to have been choked and thrown to the ground by the player at his home on Sagecrest Drive in Poway.

“Nguyen told deputies she had been choked and physically restrained by Merriman when she attempted to leave his residence,” San Diego County Sheriff's spokesperson Jan Caldwell said.

Tequila, 27, signed a citizen's arrest warrant, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment, San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Gary Steadman said.

Merriman, 25, was taken into custody and booked into the central jail at about 8:30 a.m. He was released shortly after 11 a.m. Caldwell said she didn't know if he posted bail or was released on his own recognizance.

The linebacker’s lawyer talked briefly with reporters outside the San Diego County Jail downtown Sunday. He denied the allegations and claimed that Merriman and Nguyen were at a party at his Poway home with at least 14 other people.

“During the evening Ms. Tequila was extremely intoxicated, inebriated and Mr. Merriman did everything he could to assist her in arranging for transportation to leave his home. At no time did Mr. Merriman assault her; at no time did Mr. Merriman keep her against her will. His intentions were nothing but good,” Merriman’s attorney Todd Macaluso said.

Tequila requested an ambulance and was transported to Pomerado Hospital. She has since been released.

Caldwell said Sunday that deputies confirmed that Tequila had been drinking.

Tequila, whose real name is Tila Nguyen, is best known for "A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila," which ran for two seasons on MTV. The bisexual dating show featured men and women vying for Tequila's affections. She has also modeled for Playboy and other men's magazines.

Scott E. Leemon, an attorney for Tequila, said in a statement that neither she nor her representatives would comment publicly on the incident.

Stingaree management officials confirmed Sunday that Merriman and Tequila were a birthday celebration with friends in the Penthouse of the nightclub until 2 a.m. when the nightclub closed.

“They seemed in good spirits throughout the evening and were enjoying themselves. There was no outward indication of any problem between the two of them," Stingaree spokesperson Lauren Clifford said.

The Chargers, picked by some as Super Bowl favorites, open the regular season a week from Monday night at Oakland. Players had been off since after Friday night's exhibition finale against San Francisco. They are due back at practice on Monday.

“It’s disappointing to hear about the issue involving Shawne Merriman. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and let the legal process run its course,” General Manager of the San Diego Chargers A.J. Smith said in a statement released on Sunday afternoon.

The Chargers have faced a string of negative publicity after several arrests.

Chargers defensive tackle Jamal Williams was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on Feb. 1., but the San Diego City Attorney's office decided to charge him with misdemeanor reckless driving after his blood-alcohol level showed 0.07 percent, under the state limit of 0.08.

Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson was arrested for investigation of DUI on Jan. 6, five days before San Diego's playoff loss at Pittsburgh.

In 2006, there were seven run-ins with the law by Chargers players, including linebacker Steve Foley's shooting by an off-duty Coronado police officer who suspected him of drunken driving, and two other players who were arrested for investigation of DUI.

Besides the arrests, linebacker Shawne Merriman was suspended four games for testing positive for steroids in 2006, and linebacker Stephen Cooper was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the 2008 season after testing positive for a banned stimulant.

Merriman was the 12th overall pick out of the University of Maryland in the 2005 draft, and had 39 1/2 sacks in his first three seasons. The three-time Pro Bowl selection was getting back into shape after missing nearly all of last season following knee surgery.

It’s now up to the District Attorney’s office whether they will uphold the charges. If they do uphold the charges, Merriman is expected to be arraigned next week.

“He’s done absolutely nothing wrong; he looks forward to the football season. He’s ready to go and this is merely an incident that was unfortunate that should never had occurred and was a result, directly, of Ms. Tequila’s conduct and the way she conducted herself in Mr. Merriman’s home,” Macaluso said. “We are very confident this matter will be resolved without any charges being filed whatsoever.”

This guy is a liar. How do you know he's lying?

Jaycee Lee Dugard - How Her Name Has Affected Her Life

By Tania Gabrielle

In August 2009 we all learned about about Jaycee Lee Dugards abduction 18 years ago - and her reunion with her family.

Jaycees personal numbers give fascinating insight into her tragic story.

In 1991 little Jaycee was kidnapped by Phillip Garrido while walking to her school bus stop. She was 11 years old.

She was found in 2009 as a 29 year-old. Notice 11 and 29 both reduce to 11/2. Additionally, 1991 and 2009 reduce to 2. These numbers are about relationship and division.

Her current name reveals even more.

Jaycee Lee Dugard has a challenging 13/4 current name. It can indicate sudden, unforeseen events. Since all the digits of her birthday add up to 26/8 " her Life Purpose Number - Jaycees 13/4 current name creates even more difficulties for her. This is because combining a 4 or 8 current name with a major 4 or 8 in your birth blueprint attracts fateful events and people into your life.

So it goes with Phillip Garrido and his complicit wife Nancy.

All the info I have for these two are their current names. Even so, a stunning connection to Jaycee Lee Dugard is revealed.

Her kidnapper Phillip Garrido ALSO has a 13/4 current name number.

13/4 is a number of upheaval so that new ground can be broken. It is associated with power, which may not be used for selfish reasons " otherwise it will bring destruction. With this number there is a warning of the unknown and unexpected. Impulsive, sudden action is common.

That's why I never recommend a 13/4 current name number for my clients.

Jaycees personal cycles shed more light. She was kidnapped on June 10, 1991. It was a 35/8 Personal Day for her. She was found on August 26, 2009. Amazingly this date is ALSO a 35/8 Personal Day for Jaycee.

Aside form activating the fateful 4 and 8 connection, the 35/8 also ties her directly to Nancy Garrido, who has a 35/7 current name number.

Finally, what caught my attention right away is the 18 years Jaycee spent in the Dugards back yard. 18 reduces to 9 and shows that she experienced two complete 9-year cycles while in captivity.

She was kidnapped during a 1 Personal Year for her and released last week at the beginning at her brand new 9 year cycle. In 2009 Jaycee began a 19/10/1 Personal Year and is in a 27/9 Personal Month this August. The 9 indicates endings and the 1 year a whole new 9-year cycle. She ended her captivity and is beginning a new life.

Additionally, 19 and 27 in combination are highly fortunate, so Jaycee was able to release herself far more easily during this month.

In September 2009 she will be experiencing a 28/10/1 Personal Month, mirroring EXACTLY the 2810/1 Personal Year she was in 1991. So the memories of that year will flood back, most likely because she will be sharing her story in detail.

Here is what I recommend for Jaycee.

That she use the name Jaycee Dugard. It adds up to the highly fortunate number 36/9 - a vibration which will truly help her get back on her feet and receive the assistance she and her two daughters need now.

If you have been feeling overwhelmed and challenged make sure your current name adds up to a fortunate number and is helping you - not causing unnecessary obstacles in your life.

Sarah Palin Getting a Divorce? Say it ain't so!

World Exclusive: Sarah Palin's Shattered Marriage

August 12, 2009

Sarah Palin's husband Todd smiled happily and stood lovingly by his wife's side last year during her vice presidential campaign. But behind the scenes, their marriage was in turmoil — and now they're on the brink of a shocking divorce!

In the Aug. 24 issue of Star, on sale today, we have world exclusive details about Alaska's former first couple and their disintegrating union: They're sleeping apart, arguing non-stop and losing control of their party-loving daughters!

"Sarah and Todd are fighting all the time," Mercede Johnston — sister of Levi Johnston, ex-boyfriend of Sarah's eldest daughter, Bristol — tells Star in an exclusive interview. "When they do, Todd often ends up sleeping on the couch at their home in Wasilla. Bristol used to tell Levi that her parents would argue and bicker over the littlest things, like who was supposed to take out the trash or wash the dishes."

Levi, the father of Bristol's 7-month-old son, Tripp, recently told RadarOnline.com that Sarah and Todd have had marital trouble "from day one," and that he believed their escalating problems were the reason behind her mysterious decision to resign as governor of Alaska last month with more than a year left in her term.

His sister Mercede predicts: "If they ended their marriage within the next year, I wouldn't be surprised at all. It really seems to me their marriage is just a sham for the cameras now!"

Another possibility, an Alaskan insider tells Star, is that with Sarah's multi-million-dollar book deal in place, "she might even come to some financial agreement for him to stay with her and give the impression of a loving husband, at least through her book tour next year. In that respect, they'd be like the Jon and Kate Gosselin of politics!"

And like the TLC reality stars, Todd and Sarah have their brood of children to worry about — and their worries keep growing with a new family scandal. Star has an eyewitness account of their 15-year-old daughter Willow drinking vodka and smoking pot at a wild house party! "Her eyes were getting more and more glazed as the night went on," says a source.

Pick up this week's issue to see a photo of Willow slamming back vodka and to read more about Sarah and Todd's shattered marriage. Plus: The shocking secret behind Sarah's missing wedding ring!

NO Twitter for NFL Players on Practice Field

Dolphins on a No Tweets Diet

The Dolphins don't want players, coaches, the media or the fans to use Twitter -- ever

Bill Parcells has solidified his position as Chief of the No Fun Police. It’s one thing to stop your players from using Twitter or blogging about their training camp experience, but the Dolphins are doing a little fan outreach, too.

You can’t “tweet” about what you see either. That goes for you, too, media guy.

The Dolphins are at the forefront of an NFL clampdown on Twitter and other social media, with new restrictions imposed on players, reporters and even spectators. But at least they haven't fined a player for trash tweet talking the food like the Chargers.

Coach Tony Sparano claims this is his call, but the Stone Age rule has Parcells' anti-fun fingers all over it. Imagine if Shaq couldn't tweet while he was with the Heat. There would be all out mutiny in the locker room.

True, this may be a way to keep information from leaking about the latest Wildcat plays or a new defense that will scare the pants off Tom Brady and the Pats. Or this could be Parcells playing General Patten again and ruling his organization with an iron, no-controversy-equals-no-fun fist.

Dolphins players are so afraid to step out of line at this point, they wouldn't tweet much more than "OMG! Mr. Parcells looks like he lost some weight" or "That polo on Mr. Parcells is very slimming. SMH"

The Dolphins require the media to shut off all electronic gear -- computers, cell phones, cameras -- about 25 minutes into practice, when team drills begin. The Dolphins are also policing fans, a daunting challenge for a team that drew more than 3,100 spectators to the opening workout last week.

Along with the Broncos and Dolphins, Parcells disciple Bill Belichick in New England, the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions don’t allow “tweeting” on the practice field.

We’re shocked Parcells doesn’t have metal detectors and armed guard standing at the gate at the Davie facility to enforce the policy. Pretty soon you will have to leave your handheld electronic devices with Dolphins personnel until you are ready to leave the practice facility.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said the league encourages players to tweet, and about 300 do so. As of Wednesday afternoon, the league had 772,473 followers on its Twitter site.

"We've been at the forefront as technology has changed," said McCarthy, who said he follows 600 Twitter accounts. "We have embraced Twitter. The commissioner tweeted from the draft. When done properly, it's a tremendous opportunity to talk with fans."

Can someone forward Parcells the memo?
