Oakville, Missouri–I don’t know much about Arlee Hayes, but I know one thing for certain…he is one cold-hearted piece of shit. After killing his girlfriend’s 22-month-old daughter, Sophia “Baby” Sanchez, he managed to strap the dead child into her car seat, take the dead child along for the ride to pick up her mother from work, return home and put the dead child to bed…all while acting as if everything was just fine and dandy.
Arlee was babysitting Sophia while her mother, Kimberly Sanchez, was at work. At some point, Arlee beat the snot out of the kid. After that pussy act, instead of seeking medical help for the baby, he left her in the bathtub, to die. When it came time to pick Kimberly up, he retrieved the child from the tub, strapped her lifeless body into her car seat, and took off. When the family returned home, he took Sophia out of her car seat and put her to bed.
The next morning, Kimberly discovered the child was dead. No matter how many times I read that, I still can’t wrap my head around it. I am in no way trying to lay any blame on Kimberly, but how could she not know the kid was dead? Unless Sophia was a unusually heavy sleeper, would she not have twitched? Or moved? Or sighed? Does Kimberly not kiss or hug her children after returning home from work? Anything? Investigators say Sophia died of blunt force trauma and from being submerged in the water.
Arlee Hayes, 24, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Bond was set at $500,000.Kimberly has a 6 month son that was fathered by Hayes.
